Cisco courses and exams sheets

The CCNA Courses would allow a candidate to have a better perspective of Bridging and Switching which would impact greatly in terms of decision-making in line with the design, creation and maintenance of large networks. It is important to have the ability to differentiate collisions and broadcasting domains as well as utilize various devices.
Collisions are never a good thing. As much as possible, this factor should be avoided at all cost or through increasing the number of broadcast domains or what is more commonly known as “microsegmentation”. In order to prevent collisions within the system, hubs have been terminated since they are very much the root cause of great collisions. It is actually more practical and efficient to utilize a 10mbps Switch than to use a 100mbps Hub.
A Collision Domain means that a half-duplex Ethernet system is found within a single collision characterized by two or more devices transmitting all at the same time. When this happens, the colliding devices should back off and try further for access over the wire via device known as Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection (CSMS/CD). An increase in load would mean degradation of performance. In order to prevent this scenario, one must carefully design the network with bridges and switches to divide the network into several collision domains, distributing the load and therefore lessening collisions.
If truth be told, collisions are normal within the Ethernet operation. Once the rate of collisions increase it would affect the decrease of useful bandwidth. The common effect for users are longer pauses for responses and frequent re-tries for applications.
Once the stations simultaneously transmit in Ethernet it can affect collision and damages to the frames of both stations. For Hubs and repeaters, this cycle would increase damage to the frames while with LAN switches, routers or bridges would simply disregard such.
In shorter explanation, collisions consume bandwidth. While the number of users are lessened in a specific collision domain, the bandwidth is increased. In order to have a larger bandwidth, the traffic should be regulated at a local which would result a more efficient response for users. This would beat off the hassles that may occur if the entire users would be lined up in a single but large segment.
Understanding switched LAN networks is vital among CCNA courses. But this is only the beginning. A candidate is expected to learn VLANs, BPDUs, loops, bridge, switch operations and Spanning-Tree Protocol in the process.
